Obituary of Roy E. McGee, Jr.

Roy E. McGee, Jr., age 79, of West Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Northwestern Medicine Palos Hospital, with his family by his side.

Born June 17, 1946, in Rockingham, NC, he was the son of the late Roy E. and Myrtle (Moore) McGee, Sr.  Roy was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as an auto mechanic for several Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge car dealerships, retiring from CarMax.

Roy was the loving father of Roy E. (Jill) McGee, III; the beloved grandfather of Violet McGee and the late Anthony McGee; the dear great-grandfather of Izzy McGee and Anthony McGee, Jr; the fond brother of Sharon (Randy) Williams, Barbara (the late William) Vaughn, Kay (Steve) Griffey, and the late Larry McGee; and the uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Roy E. McGee, Jr. will be held Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet.  Interment in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be private.
