Obituary of Elizabeth Metrick

Elizabeth Helen Metrick "Betty" (nee Krieger) Age 90. Peacefully, Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Heritage Health in Dwight. Born in Joliet on December 28, 1924, she was a longtime resident until relocating to Dwight in 1989. Graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1942. She was married to Thomas Metrick in 1946. Retired from Lyons Lumber Company after many years of service as their bookkeeper. Formerly employed at Adler Grocery in Joliet, the Village of Shorewood, and was an at-home telephone customer service representative for the Chicago Sun-Times. Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Metrick (1984); her parents, Otto and Mary (nee Petschauer) Krieger; two sisters, Lois Krieger and Marge (George) Lobas; and one brother, Billy in infancy. Survived by her daughter, Betty Jean "EJ" Metrick of Dwight; one brother, Arthur (Joan) Krieger of Joliet; one sister-in-law, Gloria (late Ed) Metrick of Ann Arbor, MI; numerous nieces and nephews; and her faithful canine companion, Trixie. A Memorial Service for Betty Metrick will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, with Fr. Peter Jarosz officiating. As it was Betty's final wish, her body has been donated for the advancement of humanity and medical research.
