Obituary of Ernest Hintz

Ernest H. Hintz Age 77. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. Born in Dewey, WI to the late Henry and Emily (nee Rutkowski) Hintz, he was educated at County Line Grade School and was a graduate of Rosholt High School Class of 1956. He served three years with the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged as an E-5 at the rank of Sergeant. Following his service to his country, he moved to Joliet and worked construction and was a bartender at South Side Civic Club. He started dating and ultimately married the girl next door to the club, Janet (nee Garavalia) on October 17, 1959. They had three children, Judy (Jeff) Wiedmeyer, Susan (Jim) Mammosser both of Joliet and Brian (Kim) Hintz of Channahon; eight grandchildren, Alan and Amanda Wiedmeyer; Nick Mammosser, Rachel Mammosser and his beloved grandson, the late Mathew "Mammo" Mammosser, Abby, Tony, and Samantha Hintz; one great-grandchild, Kylee. Also survived by two brothers, Clarence (Doris) Hintz of Dewey, WI and Dennis (Diane) Hintz of Sharon, WI; four sisters, Joyce (Phil) Pezewski of Stevens Point, WI, the late Joan (Felix) Wierzba, Nancy (Victor) Kawski of Rosholt, WI and Diane (Morey) Worzalla of Wausau, WI; his in-laws, the late Mary Ann, nee Garavalia (Lenny) Staniszewski, Norma (the late John 2015) Airola of New Lenox, the late Theresa Garavalia. Retired from Matheson Gas Products in Joliet after 38 years of service, 25 of those years as Plant Foreman. Honorary member of the South Side Civic Club and past President for 25 years. Past President of St. John School Board. Past President of St. John Finance Committee; he worked in the kitchen at the Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park in the summertime. He served meals for the needy at the Shepherd's Table, and was Eucharistic Minister and usher at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He enjoyed summer vacations visiting his brother and sisters in Portage County, WI, he was an avid coin collector, fisherman and loved playing cards. Funeral Services for Ernest H. Hintz will be Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park where full military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Army.
