Obituary of Dorothy Lauterbach

Dorothy Lauterbach (Nee Kovach) "Dotti" Age 74, of Joliet, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born April 28, 1940 in Joliet, she was the daughter of George and Ann (nee Bagay) Kovach. She was a 1957 graduate of St. Francis Academy and a 1961 graduate of the College of St. Francis. She taught in District 86 for 20 years and then taught at Eisenhower Academy for 14 years, retiring in 1994. Dotti loved her family and was always working on the next reunion. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and celebrating "First Fridays" and birthdays. She loved football, both college and "Her Bears." West coast Florida sunsets and Kilwins were special memories. Dotti was a member of St. Ambrose Church and active in the Council of Catholic Women serving as President, Commission Chairperson, and holding other offices. Surviving are her three children, Janet (Asa) Smith, Alan Lauterbach and John Lauterbach; four granddaughters, Alana (Christian) Spolar, Emily Lauterbach, and twins, Alexa and Brianna Smith; great-grandson, Kai Spolar; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Alvin J. Lauterbach (October 14, 2001); her parents; sisters, Mary Ann (Kovach) Heintz and Joan (Kovach) Joseph Yandura; special aunt, Margaret Bagay; special in-laws, Ruth and Pete Erickson, Donald and Cathy Lauterbach, and Dolores and Dale Turvey. A Memorial Mass for Dorothy Lauterbach will be celebrated Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1711 Burry Circle, Crest Hill, where a visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
