Obituary of Leona Meyer

Leona B. Meyer (nee Fox) Age 90, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home surrounded by her devoted family. She was the loving mother of Nancy (Rich) Overall and Bruce (Diane) Meyer; dearest grandmother of Brian (Beth) Overall, Stephen (Sarah) Meyer, Lisa Meyer and Carolyn Meyer; and was the great-grandmother of Macy, Emma, Lucy, Jonathan and Charlotte Anne Overall. She was also the dear sister of Leonard (Verna) Fox and Marjorie (David) McClure; and fond aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Edwin August Meyer (July 21, 2011); her parents, Arthur and Ida (nee Fritz) Fox; and one brother, Harlow (Irma) Fox. Leona was born on January 18th, 1925 in Troy Township. Living on a farm, she delighted in serving her family as a homemaker and cherished time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As a member of the Troy Homemakers, she was blessed with special lasting friendships. Leona appreciated the beauty of flowers and found pleasure in poetry and music. Leona was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. Leona shared her love and trust in her Savior, Jesus Christ, with her dear church family. She will always be remembered for her gentle, compassionate spirit. Leona B. Meyer will Lie in State on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 310 N. Broadway, Joliet from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 10:30 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to St. Peter Lutheran Church would be appreciated. Visitation Monday, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet.
