Obituary of Marjorie Anderson

Marjorie J. Anderson (nee Phillips) Age 88, passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, March 19, 2015. Born December 13, 1926 in Joliet, to Joseph and Marguerite (nee Morrissey) Phillips, she was a lifelong Joliet resident and member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Surviving are her husband, James E. Anderson of Joliet; two children, Karen (David) Puntney of Joliet, and Phillip (Melissa) Arnold of Sleepy Hollow, IL; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Cable, Jennifer (Michael) Ambrosini, Traci (Jeremy) Newberry, Michelle (Christopher) Prokup and Bradley (Jamie) Puntney; seven great-grandchildren, Ashton and Zoey Cable, Grace and Lucas Newberry, Jacob and Dominic Ambrosini and Henry Prokup; one sister, Nancy (Leonard) Terlep; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded by her first husband, Bruce H. Arnold (1980); her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Michael Cable; her parents; and one brother, John "Jack" Phillips. Marjorie worked in the audio visual department of the University of St. Francis for many years, and later was an assistant in the library at Plainfield Township High School. She was a member of the Weight Control Club and the Order of Martha. A loving wife and mother, she will be especially remembered as being a devoted "Nana" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed nature, birds, and caring for her plants. Funeral services for Marjorie Anderson will be Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Crest Hill, for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Easter Seals Joliet Region would be appreciated. Visitation Monday, 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
