Obituary of John Thurston

**PHOTO** Thurston, John A. Age 68, of Plainfield, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Meadowbrook Manor, Bolingbrook, with his loving family at his side. Born July 15, 1946 in Portland, Maine to Vynal and Florence (nee Zakar) Thurston. John worked for K-Mart in Joliet with 30 years of service. Survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joyce (nee Kelly) Thurston; son, Daniel (Pam) Thurston; daughter, Lindsey (Troy) Gilliam; seven grandchildren, Haley and William Nero, Evan, Leah, and Aubrey Gilliam, and Emily and Samuel Thurston; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Thurston and Stu Collins; and sister, Joan Collins. Funeral Services for John A. Thurston will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday, 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Transitions Hospice would be appreciated.
