Obituary of Katherine McCarthy

Katherine A. McCarthy (nee Eddy) "Sue" Age 96, of Joliet, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Alden Estates of Shorewood with her family by her side. Born May 29, 1918 in Burlington, WI. Residing in Joliet since 1953. Katherine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family. Surviving are her four daughters, Deanna (Gerald) Berard of Plano, Jean (James) Missig of Joliet, Gayle (Arthur) Simon of Plainfield and Linda (Gary) Cornelius of Mars, PA; 11 grandchildren, Laurie (Robert) Reattoir, Allison (Josh) Kropp, James (Diana) Missig, Joele (Tim) Durak, Jalayne (Dwayne) Weis, Kristina Martensen, Julie (Anton) Phillips, Amanda (John) Minski, Scott (Danielle) Simon, Kevin Cornelius and Thomas (Amanda) Cornelius; and 18 great-grandchildren; aunt to several nieces and nephews. Preceded by her beloved husband, William J. McCarthy (1995); her parents, William O. and Lillian B. (nee Jones) Eddy; two brothers and three sisters. A special thank you to the nurses, aides and staff of Alden Estates of Shorewood for their devoted care over the past three years as well as Family Hospice. Funeral services for Katherine A. McCarthy will be Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
