Obituary of Joyce Mackey

Joyce Lynn Mackey Age 70, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 after a brief battle with cancer. Born March 4, 1945 in Chicago, she resided in the Joliet area most of her life where she raised her family and taught physical education for twenty years at Joliet Central High School. Joyce was a graduate of Joliet Township High School, Northern Illinois University (Sigma Kappa sorority) and earned her Masters in Education from Governor State University. Her retirement was spent enjoying family, friends, books and sunshine in Fort Myers Beach, FL. Preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Heinlen. Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Jim; her brother, Ron (Linda) Heinlen of North Port, FL; her sister, Diane (David) Dowall of Scottsdale, AZ; her three daughters, Heather (Jay) Duncan, Dana (Demian) Kircher and Jillian Mackey; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road (corner of Black and Essington Roads), Joliet, IL from 1:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. A brief memorial service will take place immediately following the visitation. As it was Joyce's wish, Cremation Rites have been accorded. A private family ceremony will be held in Fort Myers Beach at a later date. For more information: (815) 741-5500.
