Obituary of John Burgett

John Burgett, Jr. "Buddy" Age 62. At rest Thursday July 2, 2015 at home surrounded by family. Born in Joliet to the late John, Sr. and Beatrice (nee McDonald) Burgett, he was a lifelong resident. He attended Joliet East High School with the Class of 1971. John raced cars (#17) at the Grundy County Speedway. A former little league baseball coach in Elwood. Surviving are six children, John (Donna) Burgett III, Lindsey (Al Smith, Jr.) Dieter, Kenny (Amy) Burgett, Heather (Robert Guthrie) Burgett, Keelie Burgett and Amanda (Geo) Rivera; 21 grandchildren including Dalton James Burgett; his son-in-law, John Dieter Jr.; five sisters, Judith (William) Vessel Sr., Sandra (William) Wysocki, Jackie (Fredrick) Stone, Pamela (Larry) Holland Sr. and Roxy (John) Sheridan; one brother, Jeffrey Scott Burgett; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his daughter, Chi Ann Burgett; his parents; two brothers, Timothy Michael Burgett and Larry Dale Burgett, Sr. John retired from Quality Terminal Services in 2004 due to a back injury. He had previously been employed by A.P. Green from 1978-1998. His name was entered in the Joliet Community's Book of Good Deeds for pulling a man from a burning vehicle after it collided head on at the Brandon Road underpass several years ago. Funeral Services for John Burgett, Jr. will be Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery.
