Obituary of Ada Gerard

Ada T. Gerard (nee DeBenedetti) Age 87. At rest, Monday, July 20, 2015 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born in Joliet, the daughter of the late Mario and Ines (Sartori) DeBenedetti, she was a life long resident. Retired from Joliet Wrought Washer. Ada was a volunteer at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center and Will County Senior Service Center. She was an avid reader, enjoyed going to the movies and traveling. Surviving are her three children, Bill (Peggy) Gerard of Plainfield, Ellen Gerard of Joliet, and Elaine Gerard of East Hartford, CT; three grandchildren, David (Heather) Gerard, David Graze and Aurora (Austin) Kendrick; her great-granddaughter, Ainsley Gerard; one sister, Theresa (Jim) Kerr of Shorewood; a sister-in-law, Carole DeBenedetti of Joliet; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded by her husband, Bill Gerard (1988); siblings, Louis "Geno" DeBenedetti, Josephine Santolin, and Mario DeBenedetti. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to her physicians, Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, Brookdale Senior Living and Joliet Area Community Hospice. Funeral services for Ada T. Gerard will be Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Plainfield, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
