Obituary of Sister Pauline Furiel

Sister Pauline Ann Furiel, OSF (Isabelle) Sister Pauline Ann Furiel, OSF (1921-2015) died at St Joseph Medical Center, Joliet, Illinois on July 29, 2015. She was born in Joliet, Illinois to the late Olga and Thomas Furiel. One of eight children, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Louis Sedivy and sisters, Mary Lou Paul, Therese Krutsch, Rosalie Furiel, Sister Anne Marie Furiel, OSF and Sister Verna Furiel, OSF. She is survived by her sister, Olga (Edward) Matesevic of Joliet. Sister Pauline Ann was a treasured member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate (Joliet) for 79 years. Before entering religious life Sister Pauline Ann attended SS Cyril and Methodius and St. Mary Grade Schools in Joliet. She attended high school at both Providence and St. Francis Academy (Joliet Catholic Academy). She earned a Bachelor's Degree from the College of St. Francis (University of St. Francis) in Joliet and a Master's Degree in Music Education from DePaul University in Chicago. Sister Pauline Ann's music ministry took her to schools and parishes throughout Illinois, Ohio and Indiana. She taught music and music appreciation in grade and high schools along with serving as the Church organist. In Joliet, she taught at St. Francis Academy, St. Joseph and St. Jude Parish Schools. The wake for Sister Pauline Ann will be at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet, IL, (Wyoming and Rt. 30) on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, from 2:00 - 6:45 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 4:45 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Procession will leave from Our Lady of Angels on Thursday morning, August 6, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. The Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL.
