Obituary of Olga Barrett

Olga M. Barrett (nee Traven) Age 91, a lifelong Joliet resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home with family by her side. Born July 31, 1924 to the late Christine (nee Puschel) and John Traven, Sr. Graduate of St. Joseph Grade School and Joliet Township High School. Olga worked at Gerlach Barklow Company until she and her late husband, John "Jack" Barrett, became parents. She was the beloved mother of John (Cathy) Barrett, Larry (Sue) Barrett and Nancy (Ed) Regganie; proud and loving grandmother of Jason (Kathy), Justin Barrett, Michael and Jon Maccani, Kurt and Lisa Regganie; dearest great-grandmother of four; and fond sister-in-law of Joan Traven. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her husband in 1998; her parents; and siblings, John, Jr., Adolph, Charles, William and Justine Traven. Olga loved to play Bingo and always needed her lucky number 7 on the cards. She enjoyed her rose garden, Solitaire, pontoon boat rides and baking, especially cookies at Christmas time. Funeral Services of Olga M. Barrett will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 8:45 a.m. from Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, IL to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name can be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice. Visitation Thursday, 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. For more information (815)741-5500.
