Obituary of Shirley Sedar

Shirley Mae Sedar (nee Kauzlaric) Formerly of Joliet, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Arden Courts of Geneva, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease with her daughter by her side. Shirley was born in Joliet to Anton and Justine (nee Wedic) Kauzlaric, attended St. Joseph School, and graduated from St. Francis Academy High School, Class of 1956. She was a realtor for Spring Realty for over 30 years where many of her clients became her dear friends. Shirley enjoyed retiring in Bonita Springs, FL where she enjoyed ballroom dancing with friends, walking the beach and golfing. She was always full of life and had a beautiful smile. Shirley is survived by her only daughter, Lisa (Phil) Dorencz; two beautiful granddaughters, Emily and Hailey Dorencz; a sister-in-law, Marge Kauzlaric; nephew, Robert (Judy) Kauzlaric, Jr.; nieces, Sharon (Dan) Hodgeman and Sandy (Bob) Steller; and lifelong friend, Charlene (Ted) Ebeling. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Kauzlaric; and former husband of 32 years, John Sedar. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Arden Court in Geneva, who helped give wonderful care and love to Shirley as she struggled with Alzheimer's disease. They will always be remembered for their kindness. Funeral Services for Shirley Sedar will be held Friday, October, 23, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N. Chicago Street, Joliet for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. For information (815) 741-5500.
