Obituary of Richard Voitik

Richard F. Voitik "Dick" Age 82. Passed away Monday October 19, 2015 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. Born in Joliet and a lifetime resident. A United States Navy veteran. A life member and past Commander of VFW Cantigny Post #367; member of the American Legion Post #1080 and Knights of Columbus, Council #5573, Plainfield. Preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Sarah Voitik; one brother, Leo (late Betty) Voitik; three sisters, Margaret Voitik, Eleanor Voitik, and Louis (late Jack) Konowalski. Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carmen B. (nee Eich) Voitik of Joliet; children, Sarah (Erik) Wold, Karen (Rob) Lombardo, Richard (Julie) Voitik, Jr., Raymond Voitik, Donald (Kelly) Voitik and Darrow Voitik; nine grandchildren. One sister, Evelyn Voitik and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Dick retired from Sheet Metal Local #265 after many years of service. He was also a bailiff at the Will County Courthouse and enjoyed running cars for Bob Martin Auto Sales. His hobbies included gardening (especially garlic cloves), camping, fishing and spending time with his many neighbors, especially Charlie Wilson. Funeral Services for Richard F. Voitik will be held on Friday October 23, 2015, 9:45 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet to St. Ambrose Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment with military honors at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Thursday 2 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
