Obituary of Terence Berkos

Terence J. Berkos "Terry" Age 65. At rest Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Chicago, the son of Peter and the late Ruth (Keller) Berkos, residing in Plainfield since September 10, 1985. Graduate of Morton West High School Berwyn, IL and received his Associates Degree from Morton Junior College Cicero, IL. He also attended Rosary College and Illinois Benedictine concentrating in the fields of accounting and business. Formerly employed by Suncast Corp. Batavia, IL as an Inventory Administrator. A U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in South Korea at the 38th Parallel DMZ. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Plainfield Emergency Management as well as Search and Rescue. A 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 204. He served the Knights as a former Grand Knight, District Deputy, Basketball Chairperson (state office), Joliet Chapter and Vice President. Also a member of the American Legion #1080 on Ingalls Drive and VFW #367 on Horseshoe Drive, both in Joliet, IL. Survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Catherine (Kucera) Berkos of Plainfield; twin daughters, Christina Berkos of Plainfield and Cynthia (Joseph) Huminsky of Elwood; three granddaughters, Gabrielle Huminsky, Ashley and Kaitlyn Sass; his father, Peter Berkos of San Diego, CA; brother, Peter (Ruby) Berkos of Goose Creek, S.C.; sister, Linda Berkos (George) Bagdo of Rapid City, S.D.; his uncle, Paul (Nadine) Berkos; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded by his mother, Ruth and step-mother, Sally Berkos. Funeral services for Terry Berkos will be Friday, January 8, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rds., Joliet to Holy Family Catholic Church, Shorewood for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
