Obituary of Nancy Stewart

Nancy Louise Stewart (nee Swinfin) Age 83, of Joliet, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Elmhurst on December 2, 1932 to the late Arthur and Gladys (nee Steinke) Swinfin, she was a graduate of Illinois State University with a bachelor of arts and master of fine art degrees. She taught art and art history for many years including at Joliet Junior College where she was named "Teacher of the Year." She enjoyed painting and drawing and will be remembered for saying what was on her mind, being a very engaging teacher and speaker, and for her sense of humor. Surviving by her husband, Ernest P. Stewart of Joliet; one son, David (Gwyn) Schramm of Moville, IA; one daughter, Sara Schramm of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Anna Genrich, Michael Schramm, Jared Schramm and Drew Schramm; four stepchildren, Robert (Luanne) Stewart, Jacqueline (Hans) Kolinger, Sarah (Jim) Cunningham and Valdeane (Kenneth) Markel; several step-grandchildren; one sister, Diane (David) Fisk; and eight nieces and nephews. Preceded by her parents; and one brother, Jack Swinfin. Graveside services for Nancy Stewart will be held Friday, March 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
