Obituary of Leroy Davis

Leroy James Davis "Lee" Lee Davis, 70, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly on Thursday, March 24, 2016, in Naples, FL. A celebration of life service for Lee will be held Friday, April 1, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 (at Deerpath Drive), Morris, IL. Interment with full military honors will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home. For information call (815) 942-5040 or you can visit his Book of Memories at www.fredcdames.com. Lee was born March 30, 1945, in Lawerence, KS, to the late William B. and Emma B. (Hamlin) Davis. He attended Joliet High School and graduated from Coal City High School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He later attended Illinois State University. On March 25, 1972, he married Nancy Binder in Moline, IL. Lee was employed by ExxonMobil Corporation, working in various roles over a 32 year career. Lee was a people person and throughout his life impacted many people's lives, both personally and professionally, with his positive attitude and ability to connect with everyone he met. Lee and Nancy lived in Minooka, IL, and spent winters in Naples, FL. They attended First Christian Church of Morris. Lee had unmatched enthusiasm for life. He enjoyed photography, boating, discipleship, volunteer work, and anything that related to spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a devout Christian and fulfilled his most important role by teaching his sons to be godly men, husbands, fathers and sons. Lee is survived by his loving wife, Nancy L. (Binder) Davis of Minooka, IL; his sons, Bryce J. (Chris) Davis of Morris, IL; Kyle L. (Christi) Davis of The Woodlands, TX; four grandchildren, Tyler, Ella, Katherine and Alexander Davis; two brothers, William (Jo) Davis and Eugene (Lois) Davis; two sisters, Marion Hester and Betty Ann (Lloyd) Spencer; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Paul Davis; and three sisters, Helen Arnott, Jean Ferrari and Carol Lotzmann.
