Obituary of Russell McKanna

Russell W. McKanna Age 83, of New Lenox, IL, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. He was born August 10, 1932 in Minooka, IL to the late Esther (nee Vickery) and Leon McKanna and was a lifelong area resident. A U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. Beloved father of Kelly Lynn (Scott) Shulk of Noblesville, IN, Scott Russell McKanna of Crest Hill, IL and Holly Kay Quinn of Joliet, IL. Proud grandfather of Ryan, Erin and Kyle Shulk; Zack and Katie Quinn. Also surviving are his brother-in-law, Gordon "Butch" Steib of Aurora, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his wife, Patsy (nee Steib) McKanna as well as his siblings. Russell was a retired Operater with Local #150 and also Joliet Township High School District #204. He enjoyed maintaining his yard and spending time tinkering in the favorite part of his home, the garage. The McKanna family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to Clarice and Karl Kofoid as well as Barb Miller for their kindness, care and wonderful friendship with Russell over the years. Funeral Services for Russell W. McKanna will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet.
