Gerald A. Smith Age 81. Passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center with his family by his side. Born December 8, 1934 in Chicago to the late Everett D. and Arla L. (nee Resler) Smith. Retired member of Local 150 Heavy Equipment Operators and Crest Hill Public Works. Member of Crest Hill Lions Club for many years and Lion of the Year in 1973-1974. He enjoyed fishing, country music, Euchre, watching his sons play hockey and his daughter and granddaughters dance. Survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley A. (nee Restaino), former owner of Shirley's Dance Studio; children, Glen (Lori) Smith, Jodi-Ann (Harvey) Kasky and Troy (Dr. Jennifer) Smith; grandchildren, Jeremy, Connor and Jillian Smith; Julie-Ann, Hailey Rose, Kelsie Paige Kasky and Jennifer (nee Kasky) Erickson; Claire and Lee Brockway; great-grandson, Jaxsen Zajac; two sisters, Terri (Steven) Smith-Pfeiffer and Mary Etta Bechtel; brother-in-law, James Restaino; and nephew, Ereck Pfeiffer. Preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ian Kasky; and sister, Betty Ruth Provost. Funeral Services for Gerald A. Smith will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 10:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Anne Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
