Obituary of Jack Duranto

Jack N. Duranto, Sr. Age 87. At rest Sunday, May 1, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Joliet and a lifelong resident, the son of the late Joseph Duranto and Ruth (Wilker) Maute. Graduate of Lockport Township High School. A U.S. Navy veteran serving two tours of duty during WWII and the Korean War. Retired from Northern Illinois Gas as a crew leader following 42 years of service. A Member of VFW Cantigny Post #367 and the American Legion Post #1080. An avid gardener who loved to travel with his family. Jack was very mechanically inclined, he could fix just about everything. Survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Beverly (nee Szopinski) Duranto of Joliet; two children, Jack (Theresa) Duranto, Jr. of Michigan and Kathy Duranto-Huebner; five grandchildren, Christopher, Jamie, Elizabeth, Katherine, and Jürgen Huebner; one brother, Ronald Duranto; and one sister, RLee Hedden. Preceded by his son, Robert (1985); and one sister, Patricia Medin. Funeral Services for Jack N. Duranto, Sr. will be held Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Anne Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or St. Jude Children's Hospital would be appreciated. Visitation Friday MORNING, 8:30 a.m. until time of service.
