Obituary of Sharon Paulson

Sharon L. Paulson Sharon Louise (Gross) Paulson, died peacefully in her home on May 14, 2016 with her loving family by her side. Sharon was born on September 26, 1935 in Morris to Sheridan and Gladys (McIntosh) Gross. She was raised in Morris, and attended Immaculate Conception School and Morris High School, graduating with the class of 1954. On May 5th, 1956 she married Lynn Edward Paulson at Immaculate Conception Church in front of family and friends. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, spending quality time with her grandchildren and vacationing with family and friends at the Lake of the Ozarks. She was formerly employed by Caterpillar in Joliet, District 54 at Shabbona School as a lunch attendant, and later at The Fabric Center in Morris. She spent a majority of her years as a homemaker. She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years; her adoring children Lynn Butterfield, Nene (Steve) Swartz, Joanie (Dan) Carpenter, Julie (Dave) Erickson, and Jeff Paulson; Her grandchildren, Greg Butterfield, Jordie (Jason) Cory, Cailey (Kevin) Walker, Adam (Kelsey) Swartz, Doug Erickson, Joe (Brittney) Erickson, Brian (Amy) Erickson, Anna and Natalie Erickson, and Finn and Bergen Paulson; Step-grandchildren Joel (Krystle) Carpenter and Alison (Bill) Gill; two sisters, Carol VanCleave of Morris and Sandra Harney of Twin Falls, ID; 7 great grandchildren; a large number of nieces and nephews; and her brother-in-law Ray Paulson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws Ernest Paulson and Roy and Ruth Matteson; brothers George and Gordon Gross; sisters Patsy Black, Joann Kopzcick, and Phyllis Scott; sisters-in-law Rosie Paulson and Carole Ann Gross; and her brothers-in-law Tony Black and Hoyt Scott. Sharon's remains will be cremated in accordance with her wishes. A visitation with the family will be held Thursday May 19, 2016 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris. A prayer service will conclude the evening at 8 p.m. In lieu of gifts, donations can be made in her name to Grundy County Hospice.
