Obituary of Phillip A. Falbo

Phillip A. Falbo Age 70, of Joliet and formerly of Chicago, IL, passed peacefully at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, Wednesday, June 8, 2016. He was born November 30, 1945 to the late Filomena (nee Scarpino) and Salvatore Falbo in Chicago, where he was raised and educated, attending Holy Family Grade School and graduating with the Class of 1964 from St. Ignatius Catholic High School. Beloved husband of Rosemary (nee Costabile); loving father of Jacqueline (Patrick Guinto) Falbo and Anthony (Erin) Falbo; and proud "Nonno" of Finnigan Phillip Falbo. Dear brother of Rose Falbo and the late Katherine Mancuso; fond uncle of Dominic (Teresa) Mancuso and great-uncle to Kadi, Francesca and Vincent. Phil worked almost 50 years at Mancuso Cheese Company, fully understanding and learning the manufacturing and production process of the business from the ground up. He was co-owner of the long-time Joliet-based family business. He was a 25 year member of the Will County Sheriff's Auxiliary with rank of captain for 12 years and served the Joliet Police and Fire Board for four years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting. Phil even traveled to Africa on safari last year, an absolute highlight of his life. Although his proudest, most joyful moment was the birth of his beloved grandson last year. Phil enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a great family man and enjoyed spending time at his second home in Galena. He was known for his incredible sense of humor, sarcasm and enjoyed playing pranks on his friends. His generosity knew no bounds. He loved firing up the BBQ and preparing a feast. Phil relished having loads of people on his patio eating and drinking (limoncello). Phil was an avid Chicago White Sox fan and he died happily knowing that the Chicago Cubs still hadn't won the World Series in his lifetime. He will be forever remembered by his family and friends. As he would laughingly say, "good night dummy." Funeral services for Phillip A. Falbo will be held Monday, June 13, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home to the Church of St. Jude, 2212 McDonough St., Joliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
