Michael Korchynsky, Jr. Michael Korchynsky, Jr., 62, of Minooka, IL, died on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at home after a long and valiant battle against cancer. He is survived by his sisters Marina Korchynsky Morari with husband Manfred Morari (Zurich, Switzerland) and Roksana Korchynsky with partner Cynthia L. Abbott (Pittsburgh, PA); nephews Manfred J. Morari and Michael F. Morari (Zurich, Switzerland); cousins Mary Efremov (New York, NY) and sons, and Lydia Lukianovich Melnyk (Philadelphia, PA) and Paul Lukianovich (Medford, NJ) and families. Michael was the beloved friend of Regina M. Corban and her family, whose companionship he treasured, and an inspiring colleague to many at Exelon Corporation where he worked for 39 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Taisija Korchynsky (deceased March 11, 2005) and Michael Korchynsky (deceased August 5, 2010) of Pittsburgh, PA to whom he was a devoted and loving son. Michael was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on July 18, 1954 and raised in Bethel Park, PA. He graduated from Bethel Park High School in 1972. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN) in 1977, he joined Commonwealth Edison, now an Exelon company. He held various positions at Exelon throughout his almost 40-year career at the energy concern, including Nuclear Duty Officer, and was most recently promoted to Executive Assistant to the President and Chief Nuclear Officer of Exelon Nuclear. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, Illinois. A memorial service will be officiated at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday by Father Tuan Van Nguyen, Pastor, St. Mary's Church, Minooka, Illinois. A Ukrainian Orthodox Parastas service will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday by Fr. Vasyl Sendeha. Michael will be laid to rest at St. Andrew Memorial Cemetery in Sound Bound Brook, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Michael's name may be made to the Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 and to St. Mary's Church, 303 West St. Mary's Street, Minooka, IL 60447.
