Obituary of John L. Spreitzer

John L. Spreitzer Age 76, of Minooka, IL, passed Monday February 6, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. He was born January 31, 1941 to the late Lorene (nee Linskey) and Robert Spreitzer in Joliet, IL. where he had resided most of his life. John attended the Cathedral of St. Raymond Grade School, Joliet Catholic High School, class of 1958 and Joliet Junior College. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in the Viet-Nam War and member of the VFW and the American Legion Post #1188. Surviving are four sons, Joseph (Suzanne) of Seneca, John L. (Kathy) Jr. of Seneca, IL, Richard of Lockport, and David (Sandy) Spreitzer of Minooka; five grandchildren, Alyssia, Autumn and Kayleigh; Cheyenne and Zachary; three great-grandchildren, Mason, Aiden and Avery; siblings, Annie (Butch) Cardwell, Robert (Jeannette) Spreitzer, Joseph (Suzanne) Spreitzer and James (Lori) Spreitzer; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his wife Linda Spreitzer and his parents. John was a retired Truck Driver who was a longtime member of the Teamsters Local 179, and the Loyal Order of Moose, Joliet Lodge #300. He was a die-hard Chicago Blackhawks and Cubs fan. Funeral services for John Spreitzer will be held Friday February 10, 2017, 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd) Joliet. As it was John's wish, cremation rites will follow services and Inurnment will take place at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cenmetery in Elwood, IL. Visitation Friday from 4 p.m. until the services begin at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
