Obituary of Thomas Henry Schoenekase

Thomas Henry Schoenekase Age 77. Passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. Born on May 2, 1939 to Raymond and Mary (nee Wolff) Schoenekase. He grew up on the family farm in Quincy IL where there was nothing he couldn't do or fix. He was a 1957 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School and attended Joliet Jr. College. Before retiring in 2005 from Valley View School District where he drove a school bus, he worked as a truck driver and was employed at Argon National Lab. Once in retirement, he and his wife purchased an RV and enjoyed traveling and camping. A member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and Homer Family Squares of Lockport, IL where he enjoyed square dancing and camping with the group. Tom was a devoted and loving husband and father who always put the needs of his family before his own. His soft demeanor will be missed by all who knew him. Survived by his children, Brian (Teri) Parrish, John (Jodie) and Vincent Schoenekase, and Susan (Bob) Norfleet; his grandchildren, Brian Parrish, Jr., Brendan Parrish, Samantha (Mike) Rapuk, Tyler Parrish, TJ Melville and Katie Gonzalez; his great grandchildren, Danny and Alice Rapuk, and Addison Bair; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Preceded by his parents; his wife of 50 years, Joyce (nee McCarrel) and his sister, Mary Dudley. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 11:00 a.m.. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, IL 60435. As it was his wish, cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the VFW would be appreciated.
