Obituary of Ricky D. Mackins

Ricky D. Mackins, age 67, passed away, peacefully on July 10, 2017 at his home in Joliet.  He was born on December 25, 1949 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to James and Bertha (Wilson) Mackins. Ricky grew up in Middlesboro Kentucky, later moving to Chicago with his family. He attended High School in Chicago, and later attained his Associates of Applied Sciences Degree, with certified welding. Ricky was a loving and kind man. He was passionate about his family and loved ones. He lived life to the fullest and remained humble always. He loved music, reading, anything historical and he was a busy man, always on the go. Ricky was a proud, devoted and loving Grandpa to his two grandchildren that were his entire world.

He is preceded by his parents; his sisters, Brenda George, Joyce Svehla, and Molly Hickman; and his best friend, Jim Vallo.

He is survived by his only daughter, Erica (Tim Nilles) Mackins; his cherished grandsons, Vincent and Dominic; his siblings, Liz Rakidzic, Sewell (Annie) Mackins, Sylvia (Raymond) Miller, Doodle (Chester) Brosilo, Kathy (David) Yarka and Kimberly (Jim) Perry; several nieces and nephews; and his partner of 17 years and the mother of his daughter, Alana Money. 

Funeral Services for Ricky D. Mackins will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, IL. As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to his family to be used in accordance with his wishes would be appreciated.  Visitation will also be held on Thursday from 3-8 p.m.  For information, please call 815-741-5500 or visit his Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
