Obituary of David Dennis
David H. Dennis, age 67, of Joliet the past 20 years, and formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 21, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center with his family by his side.
Born July 5, 1950 in Chicago, he was the son of Eli and Winifred (nee Lowe) Dennis. Dave worked forty years as a self employed carpenter.
Beginning in the 1960s, he became a fan of Star Trek and his love and fascination for science fiction continued since then. He enjoyed the outdoors and maintained a bountiful garden. He loved cooking for his neighbors and will be remembered for the beautiful vegetables he grew and shared with them.
Surviving are his two devoted daughters, Patricia (Guy) VaBales of Joliet, and Lisa Dennis of Naperville; two grandchildren, Brooke and Nicholas VaBales; a sister-in-law, Alice Casper of Chicago; and several brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years, Maryann (nee Casper) Dennis; his parents; and two brothers.
A Memorial Gathering for David H. Dennis will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet.
