Obituary of Robert F. Aschenbrenner

Robert F. Aschenbrenner, age 87, of Joliet, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.

Born August 12, 1930 in Joliet, he was the son of Joseph and Catherine (Nugent) Aschenbrenner, and was a graduate of St. Patrick Grade School, Joliet Catholic High School and Joliet Junior College.

Bob proudly served his country as a member of the Navy Reserves.  He worked for Commonwealth Edison in numerous capacities over a 40 year career with the company.  He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years, Marjorie I. (Shafer) Aschenbrenner of Joliet; one son, Jeff (Rose) Aschenbrenner of Wildwood, MO; two grandsons, Jeffrey (Darcy) Aschenbrenner of Glendale, MO and Danny (Fiancée Kirsten Pfershy) Aschenbrenner of St. Louis, MO; one sister, Rosella (the late Leo) Shiner of Joliet; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Aschenbrenner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Joseph (Hazel) Aschenbrenner and Michael Aschenbrenner.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Intensive Care Unit at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center for their excellent care, and the entire staff of Sunny Hill Nursing Home for their dedicated care and compassion.

Visitation for Robert Aschenbrenner will begin Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 9:30  a.m., at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 N. Woodlawn Ave., Joliet, until a Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church would be appreciated.  For information please call (815) 741-5500 or visit his Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
