“Betty”
(nee Scully)

Age 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Sunny Hill Nursing Home, Joliet.  Betty was born in Joliet on October 30, 1925 and was a lifelong resident.  She was a graduate of St. Francis Academy, Class of 1943.  Before marrying her beloved husband, Donald, on June 19, 1954, she worked at Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway for ten years.  Betty was devoted to her Catholic faith and enjoyed spending time with her family.  

Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald Robert Kelly; four children, Robert Thomas (Anne) Kelly, Patrick Terrence (Lisa) Kelly, Daniel Joseph (Colette Naal) Kelly, and Margaret Mary Meyer; grandchildren, Michael, Brian (fiancé Jessica Allen), Christopher (Erin Hallaren), Erin, and Brett Kelly, Laura (Austin) Reed and Jeffrey Meyer; and sister, Margaret Teresa (late Matthew) Futterer.  Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.  

She was preceded by her parents, Roland Eugene and Irene Verena (nee Woodruff) Scully; son, Martin Joseph Kelly, in infancy; and brothers, John Joseph Scully, in infancy, Charles Eugene Scully, George Woodruff (late Jean) Scully, and Robert Huey (late Veronica) Scully.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Sunny Hill Nursing Home and the Joliet Area Community Hospice team for their loving and compassionate care.

A Memorial Gathering for Elizabeth A. Kelly will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a Memorial Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Ave., Joliet.  Inurnment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.  As it was Elizabeth’s request, cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls or to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church would be appreciated.  Fred C.
