Betty Marshall

Obituary of Betty J. Marshall

Betty J. Marshall, (nee McCoskey), age 95, of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, Joliet.  She was born on August 19, 1922, in Mattoon, IL, and lived in Joliet for 88 years.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Frank Marshall (1997); loving son, Roger Marshall (2005); great grandson, Noah Marshall (2013); sister, Alene (Bud) Ongenae; and two brothers, Lynn McCoskey and Jack (Ann) McCoskey.

Betty is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Doug and JoAnne Marshall of Joliet; her five grandchildren, Kelly (Todd) Michael of Carmel, IN, Bradley (Amy) Marshall of Loves Park, IL, Elicia (Denis) Valle of Roseville, CA, Marlena (Mark) Evangelho of San Jose, CA, and Zachary Marshall of San Jose, CA; nine cherished great grandchildren, Angelina, Denis and Christian Valle, Meghan and Connor Michael, Hunter and Wyatt Evangelho, Nathan and Sydney Marshall; sister-in-law, Dolores McCoskey of Moraga, CA; and daughter-in-law, Judy DuPuis of Vallejo, CA.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Betty was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Joliet, IL for 58 years.  She served as a Day Deacon and worked in the nursery for many years.  She was employed at the Joliet Medical Group for 15 years, and previous to that, she worked for the Globe Oil Company.

One thing that made Betty very happy was getting together with her friends to play bridge.  She loved the game and she loved her friends.  Another passion she had was for the game of golf.  Betty founded the Thursday Morning Duffers years ago which played at Woodruff and is still in existence today.  We want to especially remember her three best long time friends, Dorothy Sprinkle, Donna Wunderlich and Betty Sullivan for their constant visits, enduring love, laughter and support.  They truly taught us all the true meaning of what real friendship should be.
