Obituary of Thomas W. Siener

Thomas William Siener, age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2024, with loved ones at his side, at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. Thomas was born on March 17, 1937 in Ridgway, IL to the late Thomas and Mary Louise Siener. Upon graduating high school, Tom joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. It was there that he met his wife, Margaretha Lenohard. The two were married in Germany in 1958 and remarried upon their return to the States in 1960. Tom and Margaret settled in Joliet and remained Joliet residents for the remainder of their lives. Tom began working as a guard for the Illinois Department of Corrections, working at the Joliet prison until his retirement. He was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. In his free time, Tom enjoyed gardening with Margaret and took great pride in their yard.

Tom is survived by his brother, John (Ann) Siener of St. Louis, MO; two sisters, Fran Siener Renner of Panama, IL, and Charlotte Siener Cherry of Orange Beach, AL; nephew Tony Renner; nieces Sarah (Greg) Bowe and Carol Raymond; 5 great-nephews; and his dear friends Dale and Teri Rutan.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaretha; and his parents.
