Jennie Zouganelis McKanna

Born July 2, 1918 in Channahon, Jennie was the daughter of Peter and Mary Policandriotes- Zouganelis. In 1949, she married Francis (Mac) McKanna and was a lifelong resident of Joliet.
Jennie was an active member of All Saint’s Greek Orthodox Church for over 80 years, serving as a church board member, member of the Philoptochos Greek Orthodox Ladies Society and numerous other boards and committees, along with being a great steward of her church. Jennie was the oldest member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church at the time of her passing. She also spent many years as an active spouse with her husband at the Joliet Shrine Club and Masonic Temple.
Survivors include her son Peter with wife Kathy of Navarre, FL and daughter Maryann Popek with husband Jim of Joliet. Granddaughter Kristen Hull with husband Steve and Grandson Jacob Popek; two loving great-granddaughters Alexa and Sophia Hull; sister Helen Skaropoulos. Jennie is also survived by numerous friends and family.
Jennie was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Mary Policandriotes-Zouganelis, husband Francis McKanna, two sisters: Kalliope Antoninis and Katherine Zouganelis, brothers: George, Theodore, Christo and James Zouganelis.
The family wishes to thank Lakewood Nursing Home staff and Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care staff for their loving care of Jennie, and the friends and family who visited with her in her final years.
Visitation is Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet IL 60431. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with prayers in the funeral home chapel to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 102 North Broadway St., Joliet, services 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Jennie’s name to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 102 Broadway St., Joliet, IL 60435.
