Obituary of Richard Klimek SR

Klimek, Richard J., Sr. "Bud" Age 85, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011 at his home in Plainfield. Born in Joliet, IL April 26, 1926 to the late Susan and Leonard Klimek, he was a lifetime Joliet area resident. After graduating with the class of 1944 from Joliet Township High School, he immediately enlisted with the US Navy and served his Country during WWII. A retired Millwright, he was employed at the Joliet Arsenal and Uniroyal. He was the beloved husband of Shirley (nee Kaveney) for 59 years; loving father of Patricia (Mark) Schauland, Rick (Tena) Klimek, Mariellen Klimek and Joyce Klimek; dear grandfather of Caroline (Christopher) Mentzer, Allen (Christine) Gillaspie, Stacey Gillaspie, Megan Klimek, Matthew (Tiffany) Gillaspie and Marissa Klimek; proud great-grandfather of Lillie Gillaspie. Also survived by one sister, Lorraine Knutson; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Klimek and Dorothy (Don) Senffner and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Bernard (late Jessie) Klimek, Robert Klimek, Theresa Fraga and an infant brother, Leonard. Funeral Services for Bud Klimek will be held Thursday, October 6, 2011, 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to the Church of St. Jude, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
