Eleanor Kohlbrecher
(nee Albers)
Age 94. At rest Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Germantown, IL to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Budde) Albers, she was a Joliet area resident since 1937. A long time parishioner of the former St. Mary Carmelite Church, where she was an active volunteer in many capacities. She was voted Catholic Woman of the Year in 1980. Eleanor enjoyed baking, gardening and quilting.
A beloved wife and mother who is survived by three children, Laverne (Fran) Kohlbrecher of Shorewood, Jerome (Rynthia) Kohlbrecher of Kansas City, MO and Marilyn (Mike) Kranz of Shorewood; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marie (late Al) Sparks of Arizona, Marcella (late Roman) Wilhelm of Belleville, IL and Margaret (late Vince) Pollmann of Beckermeyer, IL; sister-in-law of Catherine (late Herman) Albers and Cele (late Cletus) Tebbe both of Breeze, IL; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence (1979); her parents; two sisters, Leona Bach and Catherine Klostermann; and two brothers, Herman and Ollie Albers.
Funeral Services for Eleanor Kohlbrecher will be Monday, January 4, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorials in her name to Harbor Light Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at:
