Obituary of Thomas Kohl
Thomas James Kohl
Age 91, passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home on Thursday, November 24, 2011. Tom was born and raised in Chicago. Together with his wife, raised five children in Oak Park, IL before moving to Joliet when he retired, to be near his grandchildren. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Tom was stationed in Panama, and South America, before he was stationed in Texas, to train service men in B-17 bombers. Tom was recently able to see the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C. courtesy of Honor Flight, Chicago, a trip he talked about to anyone who would listen.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Catherine; parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Doudera) Kohl; his sisters, Joan Chioles, and Elizabeth in infancy; brothers, Joseph, Raymond, Robert, and Jack.
He is survived by his children, Thomas (Jane), Elizabeth (John) Kwiatkowski, Virginia (Blase) Markun, Richard (Sheri) and Mary Frances (Edward) Hiller; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Our family wishes to extend a grateful thank you to Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home and Joliet Area Community Hospice for the loving care and compassion shown to our father. He is home and at peace now with his beloved Mary.
Funeral Services for Thomas James Kohl will be Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Private family interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Our Lady of Angels or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation at Our Lady of Angels on Monday from 2-6 p.m. Arrangements by:
