Obituary of Joseph Kozar
Joseph Martin Kozar
Age 83. Passed away peacefully following a courageous battle with heart disease with his family at his side on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center.
Born June 20, 1926 in Joliet, and a lifetime resident, he graduated from Joliet Township High School (1944) and served honorably in the United States Army in the Pacific and Japan (1944-46). He retired from Commonwealth Edison in 1988.
He was a member of the American Legion Commonwealth Edison Post #118, St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, and the Paulites.
Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Lou (nee Bourg) Kozar of Joliet; daughter, Karen (Joseph) Anzalone of Joliet; son, Paul (Marty) Kozar of ___; dearest grandchildren, Matthew and Julia Kozar of Barrington; one brother, John (Aldona) Kozar of Lancaster, OH; one sister, Carol Kozar of Joliet; sisters-in-law, Delores Kozar, Joan Kozar, Lois Kozar, and Carol Kozar; and brother-in-law, Henry (Virginia) Bourg. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Mary (nee Macak) Kozar; a sister, Barbara Grace; and brothers, Nicholas, Anton, William, and James.
The family wishes to give thanks to the staff at Provena and Hospice for their caring and compassion.
Funeral Services for Joseph Martin Kozar will be Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Entombment Resurrection Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Joliet Area Community Hospice or the American Heart Association would be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday 3-8 p.m. at:
