Obituary of Doyal Kuykendall SR
Doyal Dean Kuykendall, Sr.
Age 76, of Hillview, IL. and formerly of Lockport and Channahon, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at home with his family by his side.
He was born February 16, 1933 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Jim and Gladys (Dunn) Kuykendall, he was raised in Channahon attending Channahon Schools. A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, Doyal received several citations and two bronze stars. Employed with the Army Corp. of Engineers for many years.
Beloved husband of 50 years to Catherine T. (nee Ward) Kuykendall of Hillview, IL; Loving father of Ruth (Jeff) Hawkins of Decatur, IL, Doyal Dean (Tammy) Kuykendall, Jr. of Hillview,IL, Beverly (Derrin) Barfield of Roodhouse, IL, and Patrick W. (Andrea) Kuykendall of Jerseyville, IL. Devoted grandfather of Joshua(Amy), Jessica and Christopher Hawkins; Nicole (Chris) Scheimann, Tracy Kuykendall, Jeremy (fiance Kayla) Sharrow and Janden Kuykendall;Christina Warsaw (Jeremy Ralston), Jennifer Warsaw (Matthew) Connelly, Matthew Warsaw and Jake the wonderdog. Proud Papa of Kirstin, Matthew, Kylie, Madison, Jennalyn and Ella. Dear Brother of the late Alfred (late Mabel) Kuykendall, Wanda (Harley) Storer, Mary (late Lou) Cazella, late Dorothy (late Oliver) Avery, Joan Jackaway, late Karl (Carol) Kuykendall, Ron (Susan) Kuykendall, Floyd (Marsha) and Lloyd Kuykendall. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Doyal enjoyed watching boxing and game shows on T.V, debating with his comrades and friends at the legion and making sure his tools and machinery were in fine working order, but what really made him happiest was his role as a "great" grandpa who mastered creating breakfast feasts for his family.
All Friends and relatives are invited to meet Saturday, September 12, 2009 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Channahon for a memorial mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Committal prayers and military honors will follow at Willard Grove Cemetery.
