Obituary of Dale Lang DR
Dr. Dale Linden Lang
Age 83, of Joliet, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born February 8, 1926 in Monticello, IL he was the son of Preston Cleveland and Mary Maver (nee Young) Lang. Graduate of Monticello Twp. High School. Dale received his Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University and his Master's degree from the University of Illinois. He later received his Doctor of Education degree from National Christian University, Dallas, TX. Dale served as Assistant Superintendent of Joliet Public Schools District #86. He retired in 1985 after 35 years of educational service. After retirement, he operated "Ye Olde Stripper", an antique and furniture stripping business. Dale was also a W.W. II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, was a member of the Moose and Elks lodges, the American Legion and was a volunteer for Crime Stoppers.
Surviving are his beloved wife, B. Joan (nee Verhines) Lang, who he married August 11, 1951; three loving children, Gregory (Audrey) Lang of Danville, VA, Robert Lang of Joliet, and Kerri (Steve) Shipley of Lake City, IA; and three grandchildren, Seth Lang, Johanna Lang and Lauren Shipley.
Preceded by his parents; two brothers, Harold and Piatt; and two sisters, Lois Maier and Frances Jordan.
A prayer service for Dr. Dale Linden Lang will be Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the American Disabled Veterans' (DAV) would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday 3-7 p.m. at:
