Obituary of B. Lang

B. Joan Lang (nee Verhines) Age 79. Passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born May 27, 1929 in Vienna, IL. Attended Illinois State University, she received her Masters degree in education from the University of Illinois, and her second Masters in counseling from Governor's State University. She taught physical education for Joliet Township High School. Member of the Ladies of the Moose and the Ladies Auxiliary at Joliet Elks Lodge. A volunteer for Crisis Line and Alanon. She was an avid golfer with the Joliet Elks Women's League, and was proud of her hole-in-one she made at Wedgewood Golf Course in 1989. She won First Place at the Inwood Golf Course Tournament in 1986. One of her special interests included playing bridge. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Dr. Dale Linden Lang; parents, Lowell and Retha (nee Murrie) Verhines; one sister, Lorraine Pitcairn. Surviving are her loving children, Gregory (Audrey) Lang of Danville, VA, Robert Lang of Joliet, and Kerri (Steve) Shipley of Lake City, IA; and three grandchildren, Seth Lang, Johanna Lang and Lauren Shipley. Services for Joan Lang will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Susan G.
