Obituary of Joseph Lapicki
Lapicki, Joseph
Age 90, of Morris and formerly of Joliet, passed away Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Morris Hospital. He was born August 17, 1921 in Poland to the late Elizabeth and Anthony Lapicki, he was raised there, serving in the Polish Air Force from 1939-1945, initially as a radio operator before becoming a pilot and flying 35 missions over Germany. He received a medal of honor from his home country for his service. Joe, while in England, worked various construction related jobs. He continued his career as a skilled carpenter in the U.S. with Local #174, Joliet, for many years prior to retiring in 1982.
Loving father of Andrew (Cindy) and Joseph B. (Marie Ardaugh) Lapicki; proud grandfather of Mariette, Joseph "Dylan" and Andrew. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Kazimiera (nee Jankiewicz); his parents and siblings.
Joe was an avid reader, especially interested in books relative to WWII and the roaring twenties. He also enjoyed fishing and being with his family.
Funeral services for Joseph Lapicki will be held Friday, January 6, 2012, 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Morris, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. As it was Joseph's wish cremation rites will be accorded after Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Immaculate Conception Church would be appreciated. Visitation Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. until services begin at:
