Bernard J. Barney
"Barney"
Age 85. Died peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born July 23, 1921 in Joliet to the late Angelo and Mary (nee Venisnik) Barney, he was raised in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School. He joined the Army Air Corp at the age of 19, and served during WWII, flying over 50 combat missions with the 376th Bomber Group. Upon being honorably discharged, he moved to the South Side of Chicago where he began his 30 year career with the Local Union of Pipefitters #597. Soon after retirement, Barney moved back to Joliet.
Survived by one brother, Angelo (late Patricia) Barney; sister-in-law, Jeanette Barney; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine (nee Straukas), second wife, Frances (nee Denk); parents; two brothers, Robert A. Sr. and Lawrence Barney.

Funeral Services for Bernard J. Barney will be Monday, June 11, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow with full military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 4-7 p.m. at:
