"Bill"
Age 81. Peacefully Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at his residence with his family by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Chicago, he was a longtime Joliet area resident. A U.S. Army veteran. Retired from Fisher Body after over 30 years of service. Member of the Elks Lodge #296. Bill enjoyed bowling with the Elks and the Senior Bowling League up until two months ago.
Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Gina Lathrop of Joliet; one daughter, Karen Baker of Joliet; four sons, Robert (Barbara) of Pittsburgh, PA, Thomas (Melanie) of Wilmington, IL, Patrick (Julie) of Long Beach, CA, and Christopher (Cheryl) Lathrop of Orland Park, IL; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Adele (Harry) Hash of Joliet and Mary Bernardi of Springfield, IL; one brother, Michael Noonan of South Carolina; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services for William R. Lathrop will be Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with Fr. Pete Jankowski officiating. Private interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Friday 2-8 p.m. at:
