Obituary of Donald Leibold

Donald J. Leibold At age 88 he passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Arlington Memorial Hospital with his family by his side following a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born and raised in Ottawa, IL, he lived in Champaign, Peoria, and many years in Joliet before relocating to Arlington, TX one year ago. A graduate of Ottawa High School. A W.W. II U.S. Army veteran stationed at Moore General Hospital in Asheville, NC. Retired from Joyce Bottling Company after 35 years of service. A member of the Joliet Elks Lodge #296 where he served as Treasurer for many years. A member of the Moose Lodge #300, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Don enjoyed golf and loved the Cubs, the Illini, and his adopted Texas Rangers. Preceded in death by his first wife, Joan (nee McConnell) Leibold; second wife, Veta (nee Corum) Leibold; third wife, Leonora (Trizna) Leibold, and his parents, Arthur R. and Helen Leibold. Survived by one daughter, Barbara (Russell) Newman of Arlington, TX; grandson Ryan Newman of Chicago; step-sons, Bob (Shirley) Corum of Tolono, IL, Tom Owen, Michael (Letty) Owen of California, and their children, William Corum, Mike and Paul Owen; one brother, Arthur W. (Nora) Leibold of Jupiter, FL; and one sister, Jean (the late George Sr.) Hess of Grand Ridge, IL. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. All friends and relatives are invited to gather at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Avenue, Joliet, on Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery, 611 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Urbana, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society in his name would be appreciated. Arrangements by: FRED C.
