Obituary of Jacob Lennon II

Lennon, Jacob J. II Age 95, formerly of Joliet, and late of Zionsville, IN, passed away on December 13th at 5:20 p.m. EST. Born February 23, 1916 in Chicago, he was the son of Jacob J. and Helen (nee Budlong) Lennon. He attended high school for two years in Detroit, MI, and two years in Joliet, and later attended Joliet Junior College. Retired from the U. S. Government after 20 years of service (GS-15) as a computer programmer. He previously worked for Kaiser Engineers, a brokerage firm, did some factory work, and taught bridge while still attending high school. His hobbies included bridge at which he was a life master, reading, watching sports and inventing things. He enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever he had the chance. Jay married his beloved wife, Margaret (nee Olmsted) in 1940, one month after meeting her at a Halloween party. Survived by his children, Jacob of Arkansas; Dan of Phoenix, AZ, Michael of Irvine, CA, Chuck (Sue) of Seffner, FL, and Bill of Indianapolis, IN; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Preceded by his wife, Margaret, his daughter, Kathryn; his parents; and three sisters. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that gifts be made to Baptist Homes of Indiana Foundation, which provided such wonderful care to both Jacob and Margaret during their years at Hoosier Village in Indianapolis. Gifts can be mailed to the Foundation at 5415 Bearberry Lane, Indianapolis Indiana 46268. Funeral Services for Jacob J. Lennon II will be held on Monday, December 19th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Baptist Homes of Indiana, 5300 W. 96th St., Indianapolis, IN 46268, would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at: FRED C.
