Sister M. Christine Lentsch, OSF
Of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate, died at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, Joliet, Illinois, on June 26, 2007, at the age of 92. She was a member of the Joliet Franciscans for 75 years. Sister Christine was born in Chicago and baptized Anna M. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Mary (Schnegg) Lentsch; sisters, Agnes, Marie and Eleanor (Joseph) Beck; and brothers Frank (Caroline), Nicholas (Julia), David (Santa), Joseph (Loretta) and Albert (Mary). She is survived by nieces and nephews and her Joliet Franciscan sisters.
Sister Christine graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the College of St. Francis, Joliet. She continued her education with theology courses at CSF; she did additional coursework in education at the University of Dayton, DeLourdes College and National College of Education. Sr. Christine started out as a primary grade teacher in Ohio, but later found her niche in the middle and junior high grades in Catholic elementary schools in Illinois and Ohio. She taught for 50 years, most recently at St. Mary School, DesPlaines, before moving to Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. At OLA, she worked as a receptionist, and even upon retirement, continued to serve the residents and staff of OLA in many ways.
The wake will be at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet, IL (Wyoming and Rt. 30) on Friday, June 29, 2007, from 2:00 - 6:45 p.m., with a prayer service at 4:45 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be Saturday, June 30, at 9:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Angels to Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL.
