Gene M. Littlefield
Age 81, flew west October 1, 2011. Gene departed peacefully from home with his wife and good friends by his side.
Beloved husband and soul mate to Cheryl; loving father to Gene (Sandra) Littlefield Jr., grandfather to Athena (Michael) Plencner and Jesse Littlefield; great-grandfather to Talus Plencner; step-father to Beth Ann Groff (Franco Peperizzi); step-grandfather to Isabella Mia Peperizzi; uncle to Kaitlynn Radtke (Brad Austin) and Larry Radtke; brother-in-law to Gary (Judy) Radtke and Ron Radtke.
Preceded in death by his son, Steven Littlefield.
Gene was a veteran of the Army and pilot extraordinaire. Gene's love of flying and his desire to be the best that he could be was evident in every aspect of his aviation career. Although his family and friends knew this about him, there are no more noteable examples than his years of stunt flying in his Stearman with his beloved wife, Cheryl astounding crowds with their wingwalking routine. In May 2011 he received his BA at Lewis University. Awarded the FAA Master Pilot, Inducted into the Illinois Aviation Hall of Fame; member of EAA, UFO's, QB's.
A Celebration of Gene's life will be held at the Aurora Municipal Airport, Glass Simulator Systems (Red Hangar Building), 43W450 Route 30, Sugar Grove, IL. October 15, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. As it was Gene's request, Cremation Rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 or the Young Eagles Program, P.O. Box 3086 Oshkosh, WI 54903 in his name would be appreciated. Friends may gather to hangar fly from 12:00 Noon until time of services at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by:
