Obituary of Brady Loftis
Brady B. Loftis
Age 92, of Joliet since 1960, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice home, with his family by his side. Born December 18, 1916 in Granville, TN to Oakley and Mary Loftis, he was a sharecropper there before moving to Joliet. He later worked as a repairman for Johns-Manville in Joliet for 23 years. After retirement, he farmed for the Bill Oldani family many years.
Brady was a hard worker with a wonderful heart, who always put his family first. He only knew a stranger for a few minutes--after that they were friends.
Survived by his four loving children, Velma (Charles) Hensley of Joliet, Jackie (Katie) Loftis of Diamond, Diane Bentley (boyfriend Will Tremper) of Joliet, and Johnny Loftis of Joliet; 27 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Loftis of Joliet; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Nancy G. (nee Petty) Loftis (May 18, 2006); two sons, Jimmy and Thomas; one grandson; and six brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Brady B. Loftis will be Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated. Visitation Monday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at:
