Martin G. Luksic
"Uncle Babe"
Age 87. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center.
Born November 7, 1924 in Rockdale, he retired from Joliet Junior College. He served with the United States Army during World War II and was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. He was a Prisoner of War confined to Stalag 9B in Bad Ord Prussia, and was the recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and numerous other awards. He was also a member of American Legion Post #1080 and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church where he was an usher for many years.
Surviving are his nephew, Joseph Fondriest; niece, Judith (nee Fondriest) Ksiazak; and numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Josephine (nee Batusich) Luksic; his sister, Louise Fondriest; and two brothers, Matthew and Emil Luksic.
Funeral Services for Martin G. Luksic will be Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation Monday, 3-7 p.m. at:
