Obituary of Donald Mackowiak SR
Donald Joseph Mackowiak, Sr.
Age 71, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully at home, Friday February 13, 2009. Born In Chicago, IL. January 21, 1938 to Ben and Mary (Krzewinski) Mackowiak, he resided in the Algonquin area for many years and was also a former Sarasota, FL. and Charlotte, N.C. resident.
Don graduated from Dundee Crown High School and was a U.S. Marine Corp. Veteran. He retired from Wal Mart and was previously employed at BiWax Inc. of Des Plaines for many years. He enjoyed bowling and fishing and was a Cub Scout leader, football and baseball coach while raising his family.
Beloved husband of Patricia; Loving father of Dan, James (Amanda), Mary, Donald Jr. (Jacqueline) and Jodi Mackowiak. Proud grandfather of 16. He is also survived by his former wife, Nancy Mackowiak, three step-children, Whitney, Scott (Dana) and Eric (Sharon) Emering; one brother James (Dorothy) Mack and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded by his parents, and his step-father, Vernon Eckdahl.
Funeral services for Donald J. Mackowiak, Sr. will be Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to Holy Family Catholic Church, Shorewood, where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment Windridge Cemetery, Cary, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday 4-9 p.m. at:
